¶ The Liberated Edge for everyone
The Liberated Edge is a pragmatic and highly opinionated technical approach towards satisfying a variety of digital needs that communities and groups have in a way that their members preserve full ownership over their data and achieve decent security at minimal cost.
Our objective is to help everyone build, operate, and benefit at most from their own instance of The Liberated Edge.
The notion of communities and groups adopted by The Liberated Edge is about relatively small groups of people with strong bonds and shared goals, where trust has already been established. In real life groups and communities could be families, friends, school societies, your hobby Capoeira, Swimming or Piano class, etc. In theory, The Liberated Edge could also help small businesses thrive. To our knowledge, this has not been tried out yet.
¶ Essence
In practical terms, The Liberated Edge is the infrastructure that allows for readily available open source applications to be run on your own hardware and then published as services on the Internet. Communities and groups use a plethora of devices, e.g. computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc., to consume the newly published services over the Internet.
The ultimate goal and greatest benefit for communities and groups is to preserve and maintain full ownership over their data in an affordable way, while reducing their digital presence and exposure to public Internet platforms over time.
